RideSafer Travel Vest Giveaway and Review!

by Shelly Rivoli

This is great timing! I literally JUST sent my oldest daughter out the front door wearing her RideSafer vest, ready to hop into Grandma’s car for a quick ride to school. No need to venture out into the driveway with two sets of keys and schlep the booster seat from our car to hers to be ready before take-off. Nope. I’m still sitting here in my bathrobe getting ready to kick off this great giveaway!

If YOU hate traveling with car seats or safety boosters, and will be traveling with a child between 3 years and 30 lbs. and 6 years (or up to 80 lbs. in size large), you will love the new and improved RideSafer Travel Vest from Safe Traffic System, Inc. It’s the same travel vest I recommend in Travels with Baby, but in a new edition for 2010 that accommodates even slightly smaller children and with some enhancements.

The RideSafer travel vest meets Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS 213) and parents have already been using it for travel to other countries for years, but I will let you read all about it, including how it works and how it worked for my two different-size children, in the Travels with Baby feature review of the RideSafer.

To enter to win the RideSafer Travel Vest:

Safe Traffic System, Inc. is sponsoring the giveaway of a RideSafer Travel Vest identical to ours shown in the review in size small (for 3 years, 34″ tall and at least 30 lbs. up to 60 lbs. and 54″ tall), a $125 value. To enter to win, leave a comment to this blog post completing this phrase:

“The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much easier when […your story].”

Maybe it’s a trip traveling with your child mostly by train across Europe, catching your taxi from the airport in New York, popping in to ports on a cruise vacation, or simply carpooling with other kids in your own home town? When it comes to car seats, you can’t get more portable than this!

To make sure your comment counts:
Your comment must be posted before midnight Pacific Standard Time Thursday 4/15/2010 (a.k.a. tax day). You must be a Travels with Baby Tips subscriber (if you’re new here, just use the box above), U.S. shipping addresses only for this one, and if you’ve won a Travels with Baby prize in the past 3 months, please cheer from the sidelines. One entry per person, excluding these extra methods below. Note: “Anonymous” entries will not be considered; if you don’t have a Google I.D.; or Open I.D., please be sure to select the “Name” option and enter yours there when leaving your comment. Thanks!

The randomly chosen winner will be announced Friday, April 16, 2010. Prize must be claimed in 3 days or a new winner will be selected. Good luck!

Ok, here we go: The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much easier, cause I live in London six months out of the year where we only take cabs. It would be great on the plane and then in town. Since I'm waaay late to win one for free, I'll gladly order one in when I get back to the states next week. 🙂 Thanks!

The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much easier when I travel with my two kids to Mexico, because we use taxis down there all the time, not to mention that we travel a lot and I always try to pack as light as possible, this is a wonderful product.

we are traveling with our 6 year old girl and 2 boys under two to Maine this summer. Two car seats instead of three would make a HUGE difference for us and our "Little Mom" could sit in between the boys and entertain them on the trip as she loves to do!

This contest could not have come at a better time…we just had to destroy our sit n stroll due to an accident. I often travel alone with 2 kids between 3 different countries, the RideSafer vest would make things so much easier

The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much-easier when I need other people to pick my 5-year-old up from school or drop her off while I'm working. I can't leave her giant seat at school, but I could put this in her backpack.

The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much easier when we travel in taxis & rental cars. Looking forward to ditching our heavy sit-n-stroll.

Nice, just learned about the blog and this "Travel Vest" have a little while before our daughter could use it but it would come in so handy!

susieandrew April 1, 2010 - 4:17 am

so i also posted on FB and retweeted your tweet about the giveaway – did I say and do the twitter thing correctly? i'm relatively new to the whole thing. i have at least a few followers who would be interested in this.

…when we travel by air with our 2 little ones. We live in Chicago, but our kids (age 2 and 4) have already been to Hawaii, San Diego, San Francisco, Los Angeles and Atlanta, with a trip to Denver planned for this summer. It would be a thrill to not have to lug one of our Britax Decathlons through the airport. At around 18lbs or so, it's quite the workout! Maybe while we're at it, I'll invest in a Cosco Scenera as our dedicated lightweight travel carseat for our 2 year old and leave the vest for our 4 year old.

i have been looking at getting one of these! hiking the car seats on the bus to the carshare is one of the main things holding us back from being carfree!

I actually have one of these, and I love it! I have a second child that needs one though!

The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much easier in allowing me to put "car seats" for 2 children in my carry on luggage, allowing me to be good to go in car rental or visiting relatives. I don't actually have a car of my own so I only need car seats when traveling.

The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much easier in allowing me to fit another child in our car for playdates (we already have 2 car seats/ 2 kids). It would also be great for outings with the grandparents.

The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much easier since we travel to the middle east often. Aside from the fact that no one really uses car seats there it will make it so much easier to convince folks there that it's not a big deal and no inconvenience for my son to ride with it on. It will also make the numerous trips we make to Philly oh-so-much easier since I don't have to worry about an additional booster (which doesn't work anyway for my son!)

The RideSafer Travel Vest would my our lives so much easier because for 4 years we have been traveling nearly non-stop with kids around the USA and the world with my husband's career. He is an opera singer and we usually only have 2-4 months at home per year. After taking 2 car seats on many trips, we would love to simplify things. We leave on Tuesday for a month in Arizona and I need to start packing. . .

The RideSafer Travel Vest would make my life oh-so-much easier when we travel to Australia with our will be 4 year old son and infant, to be born in September.traveling with one car seat is always a hassle, buT this will save us from taking two to the land downunder. This means more room for vegemite sandwiches for the Aussie kid and husband but not for good old American me!

my son can just hop in next to my husband for quick errands. My husband has a 2 seater commuter car (in addition to our minivan), and he can't take him anywhere without switching cars with me–such a pain! This would solve that problem!
