Is it me, or is this what it's all about?
Is it me, or is this what it’s all about?

I want to send out my most heartfelt Happy Mother’s Day greetings to all of you experiencing for the first time–and even the second, and the third, and the…the amazingly crazy roller-coaster ride of motherhood.

This is an especially significant one for me. Ten years ago (ten!), I was celebrating my 30th birthday AND my first Mother’s Day over the same weekend. I had a 2-month-old infant on my lap, and traveling far or wide was about the farthest thing from my imagination. In fact, I still wasn’t convinced I’d be able to keep up my prior profession of writing now that I’d crossed over to the “mommy zone.”

I had no idea what was in store for me, and I had a lot to prove to myself, you could say. And I think I’ve done a fairly good job. But I admit among friends here: It’s been really hard sometimes. There was never a road map. There has never been a “quitting time.” And I’ll bet you’ve often felt the same.

In 21 minutes, I’ll start my next decade, and it’s not looking like parenthood will be any easier over the next 10 years! Still, I remain incredibly grateful for the opportunity to give it my best shot–don’t you?!

Here’s wishing you some peace, comfort, and if it’s not too much to ask… a little extra rest for you over this Mother’s Day weekend. As always, I am grateful for your support of this blog, site, and the books I set out to write nearly 10 years ago.

Happy Mother’s Day and as always…

Safe journeys,

Shelly Rivoli
